In-Game Survey Design
The craft of asking players questions within the game experience to collect feedback, timing, question framing, and length all critically affecting response quality and honesty.
In games, this means
A post-session survey asking 'Did you enjoy the tutorial?' immediately after the tutorial, while experience is fresh, gets more accurate answers than a weekly email. Leading questions ('How much did you enjoy our new combat system?'), response scale mismatches, and surveys triggered mid-combat all produce garbage data. Best practice: 3 questions maximum, triggered at natural session exit, with one open-text field for anything else.
