Heatmap Analysis

A visualisation of player activity density across a game space, showing where players spend time, where they die, where they never go, and where they look most frequently.

In games, this means

A death heatmap showing 80% of deaths clustered at one map location reveals either an exploit, a difficulty spike, or an environmental readability failure. A gaze heatmap on a UI screen shows where players look first, validating or disproving assumed visual hierarchy. Heatmaps are powerful for identifying problems but cannot explain why they occur, always pair with qualitative research.
