Seamless Loading
Techniques that eliminate or mask loading screens by streaming game data in the background during gameplay, preserving immersion at the cost of technical complexity.
In games, this means
Elevator rides in Mass Effect, long corridors in Half-Life, and scripted sequences before major areas are all seamless loading disguised as gameplay. The UX benefit is immersion and flow preservation. The risk is when the disguise fails, a door that won't open until assets load reveals the trick and breaks both immersion and trust.
