Hand Presence (VR)

The subjective sense that virtual hands are genuinely your own hands, a core dimension of VR immersion, produced by accurate tracking, responsive physics, and visual alignment.

In games, this means

When virtual hands pass through objects, respond with a slight delay, or misalign with physical hand position, hand presence breaks and immersion collapses. High hand presence, where interactions feel embodied and consequential, is one of VR's most powerful UX advantages over flat-screen games. Designing objects and interactions around hand presence (correct scale, weight feedback, two-handed mechanics) is VR-specific UX expertise.
