Text on Texture
The readability problem created when UI text is rendered directly over complex, high-frequency game world visuals, causing the text to compete with and lose against the background.
In games, this means
Floating damage numbers over a particle-heavy explosion, quest text overlaid on a patterned stone floor, or subtitles rendered without a backing box over busy environments all suffer from text-on-texture failures. Solutions: text shadow, semi-transparent backing panels, stroke outlines, or rendering UI on a separate clear layer. The subtitle backing box is the simplest, most universally effective fix.
