Save Scumming
The player behaviour of repeatedly saving and reloading to achieve a desired outcome, a natural response to high-stakes RNG or punishing fail states.
In games, this means
If players are save scumming, the game's risk/reward design has broken down, the intended tension is being bypassed because the cost of failure feels disproportionate to what the player is willing to accept. Designers can either embrace it (manual saves everywhere), restrict it (autosave-only), or redesign the RNG to make outcomes feel fairer without requiring reload.
